‘Granny Lizley’ - the one and only Liz Goodwin, loved by all the young people who have been to The Mess over the years. Liz started volunteering at The Mess right at the beginning when it opened and has been a constant presence ever since. We are all very sad to see her go (although I’m sure she will keep in touch), but wish her all the best for the new journey ahead – whatever it ends up being! I perched on a lichen-tipped ledge on the side of the headland. Above me wheeled two over-attentive crows, hungry no doubt. Below me the strong tide was coming in, wave after wave. The long sands, where earlier I had walked, had been swiftly concealed again; the light-strewn shoreline of flotsam and pebbles and dog prints was being churned up and washed clean in the most beautiful fashion.Read More
